Art Scene China was originally established in 1997 on the internet as a way for emerging Chinese artists to share their artwork with the world. Due to the increasing interest, Art Scene China grew to become a bricks-and-mortar gallery in Hong Kong in early 2000. Towards the end of 2002, Art Scene China moved to a new location in Shanghai. A villa built in 1930 in the city??s beautiful former French Concession was especially renovated for the Gallery, bringing Shanghai one of it??s premier cultural venues. Art Scene China now participates in some of the most imporant art expositions worldwide, such as Art Chicago, SFIAE ?V San Francisco International Art Exposition, and Art Miami. Art Scene China's website features portfolios by more than 20 Chinese artists, with artists' statements explaining the inspiration and motivation behind the artworks. Articles by important art critics are also available online, providing more analyses of the art. We hope that this will give people a better picture and fuller understanding of each artist's work. And for people who would like to decorate their computer desktop with modern Chinese art, screensavers of each artist's work are available to download for free. For those interested in purchasing a piece, inquiries about the artwork can easily be submitted. The Gallery deals directly with the artists in order to insure authenticity of the work. Most of the artists' works we display are shown exclusively at our gallery. With representatives travelling throughout Mainland China, we are continually on the lookout for exciting, creative and high quality emerging Chinese artists.
